Working with Coatings and Colors for More Than Three Decades

          Babylon and Julie Schoniwitz founded Babylon’s Painting & Decorating, Inc. in 1989. Previous to obtaining their own C-33 painting license, they worked together for more than a decade at one of Hawaii’s large painting companies.

          Since forming Babylon’s Painting, they have achieved a five-star, A+ rating with the Hawaii Better Business Bureau and built a positive working relationship with many of Oahu’s property managers, resident managers, association board members, and architects. Babylon and Julie believe in loyal, long-term relationships with clients and the Babylon’s Painting Ohana. Their field supervisor and office administrator have been with the company for more than 20 years. 

          The mission of Babylon’s Painting is to maintain the lowest number of change orders and additional cost of any contractor on the Island. The company philosophy is to bid each job and do the job correctly from the get-go; meeting and exceeding each client’s expectations. Client concerns are of the highest priority and always receive immediate and personal service.

          High-school sweethearts – Babylon and Julie met at Mililani High School on Oahu. They both agree that they are truly blessed to have each other, three wonderful children, and a long-respected business. And, they look forward to working with you on your next painting project.

When you have a crew out on the job, it is essential to have a supervisor with expertise. Malae is definitely a pro at his job, having been with Babylon’s Painting since 1990. Malae oversees and also works alongside the painting crews on the job. Reliable, trustworthy, and caring, the team depends on Malae.

+ Kim Kaina, Bookeeper & Office Administrator

Almost every client at Babylon’s Painting has met or talked with Kim. She joined the company in 1991 and is responsible for handling all accounts payable and receivable, plus payroll.

            Born and raised in Hawaii, Kim and her husband have celebrated 25 years together; have five beautiful children and three adorable granddaughters. Kim enjoys scrapbooking, crafts, and exercise for good health, Active in her church, she also finds time to teach Sunday school.

Thank you so much for the beautiful job that your company did on our home. I cannot tell you how impressed we were with your crew.

Our home, from start to finish, was completed in less than 2 days. On the first day, our home was thoroughly prepped (cleaned) for paint. The second day, our home was wrapped, painted, and all materials were packed and put away just after lunch. I found this timeline even more impressive when I noticed another home in our neighborhood had been wrapped for approximately 5 days and not completed in a timely manner. Their paint colors did not match their color scheme either which can turn into a very costly mistake. Our paint was color matched perfectly and we were given the opportunity to see it dry before we agreed to order the colors. This is very important when dealing with a HOA.

The crew was not only professional; they were kind to our children as well as our dog. They took the time to ensure they protected our outdoor furniture, our cars and neighbors cars, as well as our fence and plants. Everyone that showed up went above and beyond their scope of duties to get the job done.

One home particularly illustrates the attention to detail and concern for quality your company provided. Many neighbors stopped by during the painting process to compliment how the crew performed as well as how beautiful our home turned out. We even had knocks on our door days and believe it or not, weeks after it was completed asking the name of the company that we used because they heard about how well your crew worked from neighborhood friends.

I am so very pleased that we had the opportunity to work with you and your amazing crew. When we get our next notice to paint our home again, we will definitely choose Babylon Painting again.

We are very pleased with the work your crew performed on our house. From preparation to final touch-ups, Junior and the gang were stellar. Kealohi Kai is a very strict community association and we would be shocked if they found any fault with the paint colors or the quality of your team's work. The house looks better than ever! We were impressed with the way your crew was able to work around our three dogs without missing a beat. Each painter was kind and understanding about our situation and never complained. I want you to know how delighted Carole and I are with the results of house painting you and your crew did on our home this month. I can think of no higher quality than what we got. At a competitive price, and within our budget.

I have worked with many contractors over 40 years and your work crew is among the most efficient I have engaged They arrived in a timely manner, did the prep and masking more completely then I would have thought possible. As a result, we have no messy areas. A remarkable effort on this old house.

You listened attentively to my concerns at the outset. Areas that needed special attention did get that attention. And you saw to that personally.

Junior, crew chief, a good leader, efficiently oversaw the other members who work as a team. This resulted in on time completion and as little disruption to our routine as possible. Dear Babylon,

My wife and I are just writing to thank you for what a great job you did on our house. Before we decided on a painting company - we evaluated 6 different companies when we were "shopping" for a painting company, and we are very glad we selected your great team.

We are happy with your team for a lot of reasons, including:

• The paint job was perfect. No matter how hard I checked, I couldn't find any spots where I felt we needed to have any additional caulking or painting. I used to work for a painting company myself, so I thought for sure I would find something — great job.
• Your team were friendly and courteous, both to us and to our neighbors.
• The neighbors cars were all covered - what an amazing sight when I stopped home to see how things were going (at least 9 neighbors had their cars covered in our cul de sac). Even though it was not likely any paint would have traveled so far, it really made them feel confident in your team's caring and consideration for not causing them any problems.
• You and your staff were really great with a lot of surprises with fi.xing problems with our siding, the numbering on the house, and caulking.
• Your planning was great, even with the rain taking out one day, you were able to keep to your schedule and did a terrific job.

Really appreciate you doing such a great job, for a reasonable price. Please let any future customers know I'd be happy to talk to them and give you guys a great reference.
